Same gcc here and I've been using it.It's a ld enabled switch that appears
in binutils 2.12.1 or there
abouts. Works.

Now the fog lifts! It makes perfect sense and once I recompiled and
installed it, the executables were of
different sizes... so something was done... the second time around. Thank
