Dual processor testing

Folks,

We are using a Peritek motherboard with dual processors.  I'm looking for an
easy way to test (at, or shortly after, boot) whether both processors are
working or not.  I'm told this can't be done with Windows because it isn't
multi-tasking, and that it is not straightforward in Linux, either
(something about you force it to spin off a process like the Beowulf
clusters do).

Has anyone out there any experience in a test of this sort?  Can you offer
tips or suggestions?
