the combreloc switch only works with gcc 3.x, correct? I'm on 2.95.3 still.
also, I install it twice so that it gets the benefit of being compiled and
liked under the latest version. when compiling gcc, it compiles itself at
least twice so that the result takes advantage of any improvements in the
compiler. binutils don't do this, so I do it by hand. it means blowing away
the tree and going through the whole process twice, but.. what the hell,
right?
the links are *IIRC* for certain broken/ported apps that don't look in the
correct places for the linker and assorted utils. the links make sure they
get the newest version you just installed. I stoll that bit from LFS.
