need some help with networking on a friends

He has a windows machine on which i have just installed Caldera 3.1.1 WS in 
dual boot.
.
He has a lan on his machine for the kids computer, obviously 2 nics. I am 
having problems sorting out which card is which. Is there a simple way to 
tell which one is on the net and as its cable setup with DHCP and the other 
as the lan to the other machine.

The other problem I need to know is what do I require to be setup on the main 
machine, so as it can share the internet connection with the other machine.
Masquerading ??

Lastly the printer is on the other machine upstairs and I need to ba able to 
access that as well.

Long time ago i did this but no idea today.

Later on I will need to add a remote login so as I can config the machine from 
home, put files up etc. I have added a login for me and I imagine ssh as the 
login program, but I have never been successful in sending files over that 
protocol.
