KDE2 blows up

David,

I had installed an old version of Debian, 2.1 I believe, awhile ago and 
it wouldn't start a desktop but would start Sawfish.  It had similar 
errors in the logs.  

What it was with mine was the installation crapped out towards the end 
but not hard is guess seeing as I could log into the system.  I ran 
setup again from the CL and it finished about 30 seconds of 
installation processes and there were no problems after that.  

Might be worth a shot.
