help needed for dial-in server

I tried.
both "server" and "server.mydomain.org" didn't resolve into IP when i
used the nslookup on the win2k station. i could `telnet 192.168.2.1 53`
from win2k to the linux without error, so the dns port are not blocked.
Ftp 192.168.2.1 worked, too. I could browse google.com via her IP. SO
iptables shouldn't be an issue (unless I missed something).
