oh.. I haven't started kde. just plain XFree86 and twm. Let em check
whether xmms do the same thing.
caldera's own MPG123 didn't show the problem. only the one I compiled
decoded mp3 into bursty noises. on the other hand, when caldera's mpg123
decodes the mp3, it had a 0.5 s silence every 5 seconds or so. xmms
played the mp3 smoothly.
If xmms is active, then the mpg123 I compiled will work flawless as
well. the xmms seemed to reset all errors creatd by mpg123.
