glib2 and gtk2

I may have jumped the gun on this.  My next thought - is there a
glib2-config or some other config file for glib 2.x.x?  If not your
glib-config ,as you can see is reporting the old installed glib. You
should be able to tell the compiler/linker where the correct glib-config
file is or update the file to report the correct version. Run
glib-config without any parameters to get the options available. 
Obviously, I don't have glib2 installed and am just sluething a little
based on passed experience with multiple gtk and glib version 1.x.x
configuration problems.  Apologies, if I have confused the issue.
