Whenever I'm doing something like this, I use either Gimp or some vector-graphics program. You should try out the KDE graphics program (I think Kontour is the one I'm thinking of). You create an outline to the right size for both front and back, with lines for folding if you wish. Then, save those as templates. Then, place pictures, text, even draw your own stuff and print it. I have used Kontour for some stuff already and had quite a bit of fun with it. I created a cartoon representation of one of the guys I work with, whose nickname was "Gigaman" (as in the telco-offered service of gigabit ethernet for the MAN). It was quite good. There was a bug in the line-contouring piece for Kontour's initial release, but it should be fixed in these later releases.
