lp refuses to work.

Running CUPS 1.1.10. Files will print under any editor or processor.
However, when I "lp file.txt" at the console, nothing prints, though I do
get:

lp att.txt
request id is ps1-364 (1 file(s))

lpq says printer is idle. Same result if I try "lp -d ps1 att.txt". "cat
att.txt > /dev/lp0" works, though very slowly. Any advice on what to
look at to solve this appreciated. Thanks.
