| dropping the support of Linux on the TP's? This is the link:

if you want ibm to pay attention to this, don't sign an online
petition -- sign a $100 bill and send it to them. their chief concern
(and that of many others who also are not supporting linux) is that
the linux community comprises a mob of howling brats who want what
they want and feel they're entitled to it solely because they want
it. though if the petition were printed out on a long roll of soft
paper, about five inches wide and perforated every few inches, it
would enable ibm to put it to actual use corresponding to the
metaphorical use to which they will put it anyway.

besides: ibm never did support linux on thinkpads to any extent at
all, and that has not prevented anyone from installing linux on a
thinkpad and using it perfectly well, as with the tp-240 i have
running next to me at this very minute, on which everything from
winmodem to irda works just fine under linux, no thanks to ibm.

so all your little petition will do is prove to ibm the company's
worst prejudices.
