hmm.. Interesting thought...  Perhaps the ide-cd support is compiled into
SuSE's kernel, whereas is was not in COL's 2.4.2

Not in the COL box.  Nothing has changed...  OK, so I HAD to change fstab
because of this issue so I could use my DVD drive, but it hadn't changed
before I was forced to.
