No.  The xserverrc thing was supposedly fixed long ago (early 2.3/2.4
days).  You checked those cdrom images to make sure they're good?  Perhaps
the update didn't run completely/correctly?  Don't know.  Odd the libxie
had a problem.  I'd suspect your X RPM.
