I was halfway buying their line of reasoning until I came across this 
screamer:

"Since all distributors use the same base components, there are relatively 
few binary incompatibility issues. And even when a binary compatibility 
problem arises, it's easy to recompile an application for a given Linux 
distribution. "

Yeah, right!
