There was a recent discussion about how much to clear (500?), but I
can't remember if it was on this list. The one thing I know is - yes,
you can trust your data. I have a Slackware partition that is working
perfectly fine (originally it was XFS), but I have to specify -t ext3
when I mount it on my gentoo system.
Hopefully, someone more knowledgable than I will jump in.
