I'm just in the process of sorting that out. The basic startup
control files are in /etc/X11/xfce and in ~/.xfce. But I've just
discovered that xfwm prefers a file (if found) ~/xfwmrc. This after
lengthy debugging.
I'm still corresponding with xfce-users to find out what gives. Will
keep you posted.
The only files you really need to modify are (maybe) xinitrc and (for
sure) xfwmrc. Most of the other files in ~/.xfce are updated directly
by xfwm/xfce.
