Hrmmm..thanks Dave (and Brett).  This is all quite strange, and is prolly
somehow related to the manual upgrade to RH-7.3 that i'm in the process of
doing on this box.  I guess i should finish upgrading the gnome-lib stuff
and then give it another try.
