Debian is the domain of religious zealots?  Well, if being able to
download a Debian app and run it without any fuss and fuming hunting
down a host of unmet dependencies is "religious zealotry,"  maybe there
is a reason for it.

It disturbs me to follow what appears to be the onset of  the end of my
favorite Linux.  I, like Ken, have found a Linux safe-haven in Libranet.

BTW you can set up Libranet to install RPM's without any complication.
