I already did that.

I'm not using Caldera's kernel, and haven't in over 4 years.

The xawtv website instructs to disable xvideo in order to save streaming 
movies.

At any rate, that's how i built xawtv-3.73.  So are you saying that 
you're able to save both JPEG and AVI from the camera?  I can't do 
either with xawtv.  I can save JPEGs with camE, and I can save PNGs with 
Camstream.
