usb help needed

Perhaps your distro already had the hotplug & usb stuff setup upon 
install.  Mine didn't as I've been manually upgrading bits & pieces of 
Caldera since all the way back from 2.2.  So, i've had to install all 
the usb related stuff from scratch.
