The more I work with Mandrake, the less I like it. I thought that "PATH=" was 
setup in profile. Yet the path I've set up in /etc/profile is not reported 
when I issue "echo $PATH" is Mandrake 8.2 any better? I've invested a lot of 
time recompiling and upgrading a lot of goodies on this box and would hate to 
dump it.
