I didn't manually use objprelink, although I have it installed on my system.
I had completely forgotten about it until Doug posted his messsage. I don't
know if the default configure script will use it...let me see... from
./configure --help:
"--enable-objprelink prelink apps using objprelink (experimental only
tested on linux/386)"
Looks like it's off by default, at least I'd assume that since they're
calling it "experimental".

The only extra effort I went through to get it to compile on my eWorkstaion
3.1 was to install libxml 2.4.19, libxslt 1.0.15 and pcre 3.9
Did plain old ./configure && make on all modules.
Start with kdelibs, then kdebase, then the order doesn't really matter.
I used checkinstall to create RPMs instead of using make install, so I
actually have kde2.2.2 RPMs for my Caldera box.

Oh, I also mv'd /opt/kde2 to /opt/kde221 and created a symlink, /opt/kde2 ->
/opt/kde221 before starting. I could then go to a terminal, set KDEDIR and
KDEDIRS to /opt/kde222 and start compiling without worrying about screwing up
my good install of kde221.

Also, in order to get my kde desktop to remain the same as it is when using
KDE2.2.1, I copied files that were in the /opt/kde221 directory tree into the
/opt/kde222 directory tree using 'cp -urdv /opt/kde221 /opt/kde222'. That's
so any programs I installed under KDE2.2.1 (stuff like the liquid theme,
krecord, kwave, and some other junk) and any settings and icons Caldera put
in their RPMs got moved into the kde222 directory tree.

Tim
