Its of the so called 'jelly fish' family and can be deadly. To be honest they 
are grouped locally as stingers and can come down as far as Brisbane with 
northerly winds. They are practically invisible very small in size have 
tenticles up to 20ft long. Up north as you can see from one of my photos all 
beaches carry warnings, that swimming in summer is hazardous outside netted 
areas. You can swim with a nylon body suit on and winter is fine too.
