I came home this evening to find my web server powered down with the
following entries in /var/log/messages:
Mar 19 12:00:59 a0gz395zy10de kernel: usb.c: USB disconnect on device
125 Mar 19 12:00:59 a0gz395zy10de kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect
on bus1/1, assigned device number 127 Mar 19 12:01:01 a0gz395zy10de
dhcpcd[8690]: terminating on signal 15 Mar 19 12:01:02 a0gz395zy10de
network: Shutting down interface eth0: succeeded Mar 19 12:01:02
a0gz395zy10de apmd[9160]: System Suspend
I've seen the USB entries many times but never the others... does this
have anything to do with the maximum number of USB devices? I'm grabbing
at straws here - I know 127 is the max for USB but should that cause the
system to shutdown?
I'm using kernel 2.4.17 (still) on a somewhat modified RH7.2 box running
on a Shuttle AK31 mobo with an Athlon 1.4Ghz Thunderbird and 512 MB DDR,
USB mouse & keyboard. The only ports open have to do with DHCP and, of
course port 80.
the last entry prior to the USB entry was a probe of port 111
approximately 2 hours previous.
Thanks!
