me too, but he's on a very old 2.2 kernel? and consequently needs to do quite a
bit more than simply compile a kernel (pppd, mod utils eg). *Defintiely* the best
course, but a big leap.

Brian, if you can't find the System.map doing a 'locate' then you haven't
installed the kernel source-devel packages from your COL cd. This (hopefully)
will solve your immediate problem.
