pcmcia-cs dilemma

I need advice on what to do. I use mandrake 8.1 and it appears on install of 
mandrake that it applied pcmcia modules from the pcmcia-cs rpm into 
/lib/modules/2.4.8. I have now built the 2.4.18 kernel and need to know how I 
can apply the pcmcia-cs rpm to get the modules into /lib/modules/2.4.18.

I have everything working fine using the 2.4.8 kernel and do not want to hose 
that up as I need pcmcia for net access. Anyone know how to go about this?
