I don't think it's a windows term, more a PARC / Mac term. It *is* the 
predominant "desktop metaphor" in essentially all graphical user interfaces.

When talking about command-line things I tend to think in terms of 
directories. When doing gooey stuff, I tend to think of folders. They're 
essentially interchangeable.

I think we have bigger fish to fry.
