Ok, if it works like that for this special thing, than it works. But for 
me, ide-scsi alway provided the emulation layer for ide devices what the 
usb stick surely isn't. The scsi emulation for usb storage devices is 
called: usb-storage.
I have a "System Rescue CD" (very handy) running a 2.4 kernel, which 
mounts (at least) my usb storage stuff without ide-scsi.
