'vi' is driving me crazy

Really? Hmm. I just thought they were arbitrarily obtuse. ;-)

They also provided a way to remap them. vi (and ex and ed) were created a
long time ago when the users were accustomed to having fewer choices
vis-a-vis editors. 

I suppose the point the really needs to be made is that, like it or not,
accept it or not, when it comes to *nix text editors, vi is the standard.
