nearly two hours have passed since we got the news that linux 2.6.10 
remains unchanged. has something happened to it? shall we be forever 
saddled with 2.6.09? what an ignominious end to a kernel so solid that 
hour after hour, day after day, it stood stoically in the face of all 
challenges. and now it is apparently gone.
