KATE is a great GUI editor for everyday and most programming stuff (even
allows collapsing of XML and other languages)
JEdit is a good editor if you're writing Java and don't wish to run
bloated Eclipse or Forte/NetBeans (although I personally still use them
as well).

| Anyone know a good code editor like this:
| - Modeless
| - Uses shift-movement for selection, ctrl-x -c -v for delete, copy, paste
| - Has single keystrokes for things like "save"
| - Works great in character mode
| - Has color highlighting for the common FLOSS languages (sh, python, etc.)
|
| Thanks,
| Michael
