We have had snow off and on over the past 2 weeks. It was getting set to be a
picture-postcard-perfect Christmas when we had a mild spell come up from the
US and bring a day of rain with it. This was followed by a return to winter
temperatures with avengence - we had a flash freeze, with temperatures
dropping 12 degrees Celsius in 1 hour (great shades of the film 'The Day
After Tomorrow'!). We still have some snow left, although it is diminished
and nowhere near as pretty. Instead, what we have been left with for Xmas is
an icy frozen mess. The temp overnight last night here in the Ottawa Valley
was minus 30 Celsius (22 below zero Fahrenheit).
Here's a picture of our parliament buildings downtown with what snow remains.
If you look at night, there are usually a lot of Xmas lights.

Merry Christmas to all.
