There's an optional IR remote you can get, and it does have a tripod
mount. I don't have either at the moment. The IR remote is the same 
one as the higher end canons use, so if you're planning on upgrading, 
it'll probably save you money later.

The price was $350 from best buy, after a $40 rebate.
