Can you explain how this is done?

I am following instructions at:

on how to configure my Verizon wireless card to run under linux, and I 
do fine until I get to the following:

"we created a PPP dialup account that can be reached by dialing #777 
(#PPP) over /dev/ttyUSB0. Your PPP login name is your 10-digit phone 
number followed by *@vzw3g.com* and your password is simply *vzw*."

I am not at all familiar with how this is done.  Everything I find 
googling goes into kernel compiling, etc. which I don't need.

Can anyone give me some input on this?
