darl and the boys let it be known what they were up to quite some time 
ago -- i interviewed 'em about it at linuxworld expo in nyc in january 
2002, after the wall street journal reported that they had hired david 
boies to "defend their intellectual property." so a "quick replacement 
job" in this case would need to have been found in, what, three years.
