Very nice reviews. I may have to consider giving Gentoo a try.

I'm a Debian user, having used Libranet for years, and experimented with
Mepis and Ubuntu. However, plain Debian of the sid/unstable variety,
works well for my desktop, and Libranet is still my home server distro.
I'm waiting for Libranet 3.0 to come out. It's a bit overdue and behind
schedule. I'm hoping it's worth the wait. I love the mailing list and
forum for Libranet.

Those who hesitate to use Debian because of rumors of a bad installer
should have a go at it now. The install is better, and I've found
'unstable' to be as stable as anything.

[A word of caution: I never do "apt-get dist-upgrade", preferring to
stick to "apt-get upgrade" and picking individual packages for
upgrading. (also, I use aptitude... instead of apt-get...)]
