Is there another system there that you could SSH into? Is there someone
there who could connect a null-modem cable between the two? If not, you're
probably stuck. And if it fails, you are anyway. Or is there someone
there you could talk through an upgrade using the CDs? That's how I used
to admin OS/2 boxes in New York City. (Worked way too well--would have
been nice to get to actually go to NY at employer's expense.)
Of course if updating online from when you get FC1 up works (or if you go
Debian as you threaten), even if you do end up driving, this could well be
the last time you need to.
Just look at it this way: If it weren't for yum/apt-rpm you'd have to make
the trip for every upgrade, but now get it to Fedora and you're home free
unless one of them breaks.
