Yes, but.... I don't run any servers, but if I did I would have quite
different criteria for software than I do on my desktop system. As a
desktop user, I want what I want when I want it; so what if it's not
100% stable. The more packages and the more current the better. Gentoo
provides that admirably.
Running a server, OTOH, I would not need to experiment with lots of
packages, and stability plus security upgrades would be more of a
question. I may curse RH/Fedora/Suse/Slack when I'm looking for
desktop packages, but any of these would be quite acceptible for a
server. Gentoo would be a little more work, but then I understand the
structure better than any of the others.
