I've run a couple of variants of KDE (the RH Bluecurve variety as well as more
generic KDE) and it's news to me that it has more than a superficial
similarity to Windows.
I'm really wondering about this notion that Gnome is smaller than KDE. Some
time back I did a 'free' after a clean reboot into first Gnome then KDE and I
recall there being no real difference in memory footprint. I need to re-run
that experiment and include XFCE as well.
