Up2date can be configured to ignore packages by default, mostly when an
auto-update of a given package might break something. Kernel packages are
ignored by default IIRC, so in your ignored list you'll probably see any
kernel packages, plus whatever packages depend on them. You can also
configure packages to be ignored if you like, for example I do custom SSH
packages since I want a version that supports Kerberos properly. I'd rather
not have my SSH packages borked by a well-meaning but braindead up2date
process, so I put ssh on the ignore list.
