text editor console - Whatever is there
text editor gui - Crisp
shell - Bash
Office suite - TextMaker and open office

Just an observation; there seem to be a lot of KDE users in spite of 
complaints of it being a resource hog.

I have yet to see gnome show up as a desktop of choice.
