Just this past week I completed a fresh install of filePro 6.1.0 on a
fresh new (virtual) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2. I was advised by fPtech
support to install the "unixodbc" libraries. I did that and didn't have any
missing library errors.

<p>In my case, I created two instances (1) SuSe, I think 17 and (2)
Ubuntu 22 - I do not think these are "custom" built/flavors by
AWS; I see nothing that would suggest that.<br>
</p>
<p>Both installed with all standard packages but you can get to CLI
and install/manage whatever you want. Very easy, download the
.pem file (key) and go to work with any SSH client or use their
provided browser based ssh client. You can also create your own
key. <br>
</p>
<p>I also use "Terminal" to connect AWS paired with my key and copy
between both my home server and AWS instances.<br>
</p>
<p>I opted to create two instances because the party that I am
working with uses SuSe and I am used to Ubuntu; I am trying to
play it safe since I had installed my filePro runtime (5.08.D16)
in my Ubuntu server at home; trying to follow the path of least
resistance. ;-)<br>
</p>
<p>After my post, I did the following and got fp to work:<br>
</p>
<p>(a) sudo add-apt-repository ppa:linuxuprising/libpng12<br>
(b) sudo apt update<br>
(c) sudo apt install libpng<br>
(d) sudo apt-get install -y unixodbc-dev</p>
<p>Oh, /var/appl/fp has a libfpodbc.so file, I copied it to
/usr/local/lib; perhaps, the right thing would had been a link but
a simple copy worked for me and I did not want to mess with <span
class="comment-copy"><code>LD_LIBRARY_PATH.</code></span></p>
<p><span class="comment-copy"><code><br>
</code></span></p>
<p>All in, I think that I am at about $50/month for both instances -
I think the electricity at home may cost me about that to run a
couple of servers. ;-)</p>
<p>I hope that the above helps others - Thank you all for your
prompt response and valuable input!</p>
<p><br>

Subject: Re: libfpodbc.so
Jose,
You don't say what version of filePro?
I recently installed 64 bit 6.1.00.2 onto a RHEL 7.9 VM and had some issues
with libodbc.so.2 and libxml2.so.2 but filePro support sorted that
eventually.
The install was looking for them in /lib
I hope this helps.
Regards
Ken

<pre class="moz-quote-pre" wrap="">So, I finally had a quite day and moved my filePro application to AWS.
I am expecting to have to deal with license issues because I simply
took a tarball of my application and rcp it to my AWS instance - For
kicks, I ran `p` and I am getting this error
/var/appl/fp/runmenu: error while loading shared libraries:
libfpodbc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory
The file is located within /var/appl/fp and /usr/local/lib
Where is filePro looking for this file to be given that it cannot find
it within its own directory?
BTW, in my home office server, the file is in the same two directories
and I do not have that problem ...
