<p>Hello Mike!</p>
<p>You and I both share the same sentiment about MS Products and
being locked in into proprietary subscription based stuff ... I
like even less after finding that they appear to not have any
connectors outside MS family of products.</p>
<p>To make matter worst, you need license for at least 3 services
before you can do any work and each connector requires a license -
I cannot fight this fight, I am up against three young blood that
are eager and hungry and they think the world of M$, I am but the
old man that knows a couple of things they care very little about
:-(</p>
<p>Ironically, I get the assignments to write the code no one else
can touch - not even their MS Certified Consulting firm - Go
figure!<br>
</p>
<p>It is like a cultural thing, if it is not M$, it is not an
option! If you cannot drag and drop it, it is not useful! If you
have to actually write code, it is not modern enough!</p>
<p>I proposed sticking to web standards using NODE.JS, REACT.JS ...
I do most or all of my coding in PHP but I am yet to find a task I
have not been able to complete but, IT Director is a hard core MS
SQL and MS Family of Products.</p>
<p>Thanks for the reply and thanks for pointing me to "Flutter &
dart".</p>

<pre class="moz-quote-pre" wrap="">Jose,
Checkout “flutter & dart”. I think flutter is worth the learning curve and a better alternative to MS products in the cloud (MS power apps). I hate being locked in to proprietary subscription services focused only on MSsql and share point.
As you already know, the browser building blocks are always html, css, JavaScript toolsets regardless of the vertical. PWAs are not new….see “Cordova” which targeted the mobile screen initially. “Node” running server side (compiled JavaScript).
Bottom line, the generic JavaScript coder, regardless of the toolset or IDE used, will typically be the intelligence behind the client browser app in todays brave new world of APIs, Ajax DB interfaces, and UIs. I’m always looking to improve my development style, and always seem to come back to making sure I focus on the same building blocks in my tool box, and keeping them object oriented. The seamless transition to mobile screen deployment makes understanding CSS, html5 all that more important. I’m still looking for the right RAD to accomplish that expansion.

So, for almost a year now I have been developing for a large construction company in South Florida - Thus far, it has been all about API development, OCR to extract data from PDF and IMAGES ...
MS Business Central is something we are looking at as a potential platform, migrating out of a smaller platform that seems to have fallen short thus cannot handle the company's aggressive growth and software development at a pace (or possibly cost) that meets companies needs.
I have been given the heads up to start looking at MS Power Apps to start developing tools for field staff and, to some degree, internal use (Power BI for reporting purposes).
I find it weird that one would want to cut down development cost and want to use MS Power Apps that will sure add cost in the resource and license arenas - Not sure how scalable these are!
Now, while researching I came across PWA (Progressive Web App) and it hit me like a brick - Why had I not heard of this before!?!
It seems that PWA has been around for 4 to 5 years and yet, if it is used, it sure is a well kept secret.
All that being said, my question is:
Is anyone here using either one of these and what advise can you offer?
Thank you all for your time and input.
