I have always had trouble with this variable because the font they
used to print things does not make it clear if it is PFMBTO or
PFMBT0.<br>
<br>
While we are talking about it maybe someone knows for sure which
is right. It made better sense with Zero as the last character.<br>

I think Ken is referring to PFMBTO, which I guess stands for PF Message
Box Time Out, which sure sounds like what you are experiencing.
But what are the chances of that environmental variable getting set on
your server without you knowing about it?

There is an environment variable that controls error messages auto closing
check and see if there is something similar for msgbox or that variable
impacts msgbox.

In the last few days, one of my server is experiencing a strange issue
with msgbox’s, where they close automatically after about a second or so.
At first, I thought that I was a client issue, but after testing it on
several clients, and having rebooted the server, the issue continues.
I have searched through the manual and cannot locate anything that may
have been accidentally set.
Has anyone here seen this behavior before? Whatever might be causing
it, I need to get the server back to where it requires an ENTR key to
close the msgbox window. Thank you all in advance….
