    <p>Bill,</p>
    <p>So if I encrypt the entire file, I can see the data on the
      screen, I can do look ups, I can generate reports with the data. 
      But if I try to look at the contents of the key file directly it
      will be unreadable.  But if an index is built on protected data
      the index information is not encrypted.</p>

        A lookup to an encrypted file does NOT ask for a password.<br>
