A) you did not specify what you need a the backup for.<br>

So<br>

1) if I needed a clone I would use VM tools to create a clone. It could be as simple as shutting down the server and making a copy of the vm files and bringing it back up without any network card and making changes to network settings and hostname. Or use
VM tools for making copy. Or VM shere tools for making a clone from a running system.<br>
<br>
2) if I needed to make a backup, so I could test something, I would just make a snapshot and test my changes, and either revert back to the snapshot if it failed, or consolidate if it worked. Reverting back over and over until I get the code right is also a
benefit.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
