We use fileproGI for all installs.</pre><pre style="white-space:pre-wrap">We made a handful of tweaks to our code to make buttons work, launch helper programs with MSG-Send (instead of "system"), and a few other items. But the core code is the same for the users running "GI" or choosing to run in "Text mode" (just launching p.exe over a mapped drive).<br></pre><pre style="white-space:pre-wrap">We also maintain live, parallel data in Microsoft SQL tables using the "low-level" Filepro SQL commands.</pre><pre style="white-space:pre-wrap">Our sites are running on Windows Server 2008, 2012, or 2016 - and most are virtual machines (Hyper-V or VMware)</pre><pre style="white-space:pre-wrap">In order to effectively run Filepro on a Windows server, you must exclude /appl from antivirus scanning, disable opportunistic locking (which includes dropping back to SMB1), turn off VMQ for certain network cards, and a couple other tweaks.</pre><pre style="white-space:pre-wrap">Of course, GI is not as affected by the SMB issues and runs faster than "text mode". GI is about twice the speed for batch processes. Strangely, running "text mode" on the local server drive is faster than a mapped drive on the same server. All that Microsoft packet stuff gets in the way. I have played with the fpgi interface in the past. I am about to implement the later version.
That said, what one uses depends in it use. The Fp product is the easiest to implement. Nothing to do. However, easy modification can be made to add buttons and control the mouse path.
If they are looking to web enable the application then other products will offer a better fit. Note these will need more programming.
