There different solutions depending on the specific requirements and
constraints. Some solutions might only involve filepro files.
Some things to consider:
How do you expect the interface to behave? When 'scanning', would you
want to search for parts of words? (Words starting with vs any portion
of words.) Do you need to search across multiple files in one search
session? Does the source data that you are searching change
frequently? How should the resulting matches for 'scans' look? Should
results be some kind of active link that functionally open its
corresponding document?
Regarding storage and naming, in a web-based scenario for example, a
user could designate a document name and upload a document to the
desired directory simultaneously naming the physical document and its
entry name [and say create date, etc.] in a database of documents. How
will the documents be received? In house of from another party?

To clarify what I'm looking to do:

I'm not looking for any OCR. This is strictly for archival
purposes.
I want to be able to scan the document from a command in Filepro and
place it in a specific location with a specific name that Filepro
can control and store.

The specific application is to store shipping, receiving, and batch
records for a food-processing operation. These documents require a
physical signature, so simply recording the transaction itself isn't
good enough.

PrintWizard looks like a workable solution if I can see a scanner
connected to another machine. But any other thoughts are welcome.
