I wrote to filepro asking about version 5.0.14
that Fairlight mentioned and below is the response that I
received.

Whatever licensing they were talking about in the email they sent
was just a little file when I downloaded it. I'm not certain, but
I may have had to get one of those for the 5.0.09 version that I'm
currently using when I installed it years ago.

Does anyone know if after installing 5.0.15 on my 2008 server r2
if everything's going to work like it does in 5.0.09 as far as the
licensing that doesn't really work. I have enough licenses for
what I use but with everyone logging in with RDP I don't think
filepro 5.0.09 has a clue how many licenses I'm actually using.

Thanks, Mike
We no longer sell or support that version of filePro. The last
available version of 5.0 on our website is 5.0.15 and is no longer
recommended or supported. There is no charge for this version
however and if you wish to continue to use this outdated and
non-supported version, you can download it by using your email and
license number at http://www.fptech.com/Download/drequest.shtml

BTW - our records show that you did download and activate the
license for 5.0.15 If you did not install that version or you
need to download it and install again, you may do so from our
website. The license activation instructions are below.

You should contact sales for an upgrade quote to the latest 5.8
version.

Download the install media from http://www.fptech.com/Download/drequest.shtml
using your email address and the license # located on the
invoice. Save this file on your hard drive and unzip it into a
folder so you can find it when you need it.

You will need a license for the new machine. We recommend using
the Hard Drive Volume Number.

Click on Start
Select Run
Type

cmd

and press OK

This should open a command window.

Make sure you are on the Hard Drive where filePro is installed or
to be installed. ie. C: or D: etc.

Type the following:

dir/w/p

You will see at the top of the window the Volume Serial Number is
with an 8 character number

Use that 8 character number in the license manager on our website
and enter it into the appropriate field.

DO NOT ENTER any additional information into the other fields.

Download a new license.

http://fptech.com/Download/lrequest.shtml

Save the new license in a folder called C:\fplicense on your hard
drive. DO NOT RENAME THIS FILE.

Install filePro from the CD or install image by clicking on
setup.exe located in the root folder of the installation.

Make sure to point to the correct location of the fp and filepro
directories or accept the default for new installation.

When the install asks for the location of the license, point the
installation to the C:\fplicense folder and select your license.

Accept the rest of the defaults and complete the installation.
