I’ve tested an HP P1606dn printer and I can get some functionality out of it, but there are issues. For example, I am only able to get one font to work with it, and I can’t get the page margins set correctly to print a full 80 characters across the page.

I’ve also tested a couple of Canon printers that have host-based PCL, but wasn’t able to get them working very well.

I had been recommending HP 2055dn printers, but they are getting hard to find and expensive.
